1. Salary Hike:
In 2015, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification, was listed in the Global Knowledge’s list as one of the 15 highest paying certifications with an average salary of INR 6,590,000 (or $101,729). Compared to non-CSM certification holders, you’re more likely to make nearly $10K more than their median salary of INR 5,058,000(0r $78,139) – bumping your median salary to INR 5,671,000
or ($87,579). The average pay in India for a certified ScrumMaster is INR 1,154,487 per annum, which may vary depending on your experience. People with over 20 years of experience in CSM, tend to move to other jobs.
2. Increasing industry demand:
There is so doubt that there’s been a rise in demand for CSM professionals in the industry, who are not only are proficient in Agile methodologies, but can successfully manage and execute projects using the same. According to the VersionOne State of Agile Survey, 94% or the responding organizations confessed that they make use of Agile methods in their day-to-day work-life, which is also why the CSM certifications are available for entry-level, mid-level and senior positions at a team-level. While a certification in no way guarantees job-effectiveness, founder of Apple Brook Consulting – Daniel Gullo says, “Certifications are just a way to establish a baseline. Just because someone has an agile certification doesn’t mean they’ll be good at their job.” So, if you’re Agile Developer who is just starting out, a certification can be a tangible proof of your proficiency to the employers.

3. Developing sought-after skill-set:
Joseph Percivall, who acquired a CSM-certiciation in 2012 says, “My certification proved valuable in two ways – first, I learned the core principles of scrum, which validated what my team leader taught me. Second, the certification set me apart from other candidates during job interviews.” If you were to believe the Scrum Alliance’s 2015 State of Scrum Report, 81% of 4,452 participants gave an affirmative response to CSM certification, maintaining that it helped them in their SCRUM practice. Needless to say, a certification will help you better assess any project’s needs, and make decisions regarding proper framework.
4. Flexible Duration and examination:
Most CSM Certifications aren’t time-consuming and would hardly take 2-3 days, ideally. AFtecompleting your certification, you will have between 60-90 days for taking the CST-led exam, depending upon where you choose to get your training from. You’ll be given 35 questions to answer, out of which you’ll be good to go if you get at least 24 of them right. If you aren’t succesfull in the first attempt, you can try again.
5. Most commonly accepted SCRUM certification:
Out of the various kinds of SCRUM certifications, CSM is the most common and widely acceptable across the world by employers. By 2013, there were reportedly 220,000+ CSM Certifications, whereas the number of PSMs (Professional Scrum Master) Certifications was only 11,000. Jesse Fewell, a John Hopkins’ graduate and and Certified Agile Instructor, recommends CSM if you’re looking to pursue a foundational scrum certification, because it’s the most recognized in industry circles. Product Owner Certification (CSPO) is also in heavy-demand, but not many organizations are looking for Product Owners, when compared to SCRUM Masters. There were only 10,000 Product Owners in 2011, and 95,000 CSM certified professionals.
